Yeah, TFA was fun and had some great characters, but what got me about it was how repetitive it felt. Established characters doing the same stuff, check. Desert hellhole scavenger planet, check. Planet-destroying superweapon with odd vulnerabilities, check.

In Han and Leia's case it sort of worked--two people torn apart by loss, going back to what they know best because they have no idea what else to do with themselves--but it was hard to tell whether that was the intent or just another nostalgia track in the Greatest Hits album. My friend thinks it's the loss-and-regression angle, and I kind of agree, but the repetitiveness of the rest of the movie spoiled the effect for me.

J.J. Abrams is great with characters and visuals, but I don't know if I've ever seen a movie of his that felt like a coherent film and not a series of breathtaking music videos sewn together. TL; DR: It's probably not just you.
