Yeah, not so much on the conventional world, at least. Though this one did start off to be based on something real world (20th century), but when I decided to set it on another planet I let it diverge, so now it's become its own thing (and is finally starting to settle down into a clear picture of itself rather than an incomplete allegory of another situation, which is such a relief really).

I'm not especially good at knowing subgenres (I read sort of randomly as I pick up recs), but I suppose really the stuff I'm calling infodumps are nothing I haven't seen in other books, even books with fairly fast pacing.
